I took these portraits from the car on the highway at high speed on my way to Kashan from Teheran during my trip to Iran in February. My friend was driving on the left side of the car and I was taking pictures on the right. I started to take photographs of the landscape and at the same time including the passengers of the cars that were passing by in front of me. I wanted to froze time with an action in movement but also create a new kind of group portrait including the aesthetic of the cars and the landscape of Iran in the background.

Story

I took these portraits from the car on the highway at high speed on my way to Kashan from Teheran during my trip to Iran in February. My friend was driving on the left side of the car and I was taking pictures on the right. I started to take photographs of the landscape and at the same time including the passengers of the cars that were passing by in front of me.

I wanted to froze time with an action in movement but also create a new kind of group portrait including the aesthetic of the cars and the landscape of Iran in the background.

In these series of portraits, we don´t know if the people in the cars are in movement or stopped. This feeling of not knowing where we are in time and the fact that all the passengers in the car in front are starring at the camera with the blurred highway path creates a strange situation. The spontaneity of the people captured is real with no intervention or arrangement from my side. These images were my only encounters with these people.

It was a kind of street photography but in the highway of Iran.
