This portfolio is to capture the surrounding atmosphere and the expressions of orthodox pilgrims during the celebration of Easter in the rocky churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia. In orthodox theology, Easter is a more important festival than Christmas, since the Death and Resurrection of Jesus is more significant. During the Easter Eve, Ethiopian orthodox pilgrims wear the traditional white clothing and carry lit candles to celebrate this religious festival. Such a tradition has been kept by Ethiopians for hundreds of years and still continues to be carried out to this day.
