In 2011 the UN Security Council makes public a report that denounces the crimes committed by the Government of Sri Lanka (winner of the conflict) in the final stages of the civil war: the report lends further credence to the allegations of serious violations of human rights. Four years after hostilities ended, there has been no progress towards a legitimate process of truth and accountability for war-time abuses. Nowadays Tamil people are still facing low income living conditions, an overall decline in democratic and human rights standards due to the ascendance of a majoritarian ethno-religious intolerance.
