Sangomas- traditional healers from South Africa Peter Frank captured the mysterious expression of the Sangomas in a series of powerful photographs. He visited the Sangomas in their simple huts of townships and in the countryside of KZN. „For the time exposure, they had to sit still for 8 sec.“, explains Frank. With a simple technique he drew light accents out of the darkness, channeling the expressions and literally highlighting the mystical aura of them. The Sangomas are shown in their ordinary small rooms in which they live and practise. Franks portraits depict existential aspects of African life, that are both timeless and powerful.
