Travelling predominantly around the south of England armed with my rather cumbersome 5x4 camera, this work is an attempt to document my relationship with families in the Irish Traveller community and explore their identity. This photograph follows the genealogy, examining how the family unit plays a massive and integral role in their community, above all as a support system. The work recognises social observations harking back to tradition, where religion and family values are a prominent theme of the everyday vernacular.
