These images were taken in Detroit in 2013, shortly before the city declared bankruptcy. The population has declined in the last fifty years from nearly two million to under seven hundred thousand, leaving a vast wasteland of decaying buildings, and in many cases, their contents. Some have tried via community projects, such as 'The Heidelberg Project' to recycle buildings and objects, though they are met with resistance and many are subsequently destroyed. One such building, 'Party Animal House' was burned down in 2014.
