This was taken in the Teesside area of the UK where there is a lot of industry. It's rare to be able to get close to this sort of scene due to security and fences. I was struck by the almost perfect placement of the coal pile with the repeating ridges and the texture you get from the sheer volume of coal. The lighting tower behind allowed me to balance the composition and give a sense of scale.
