The images are of an old machine used to haul boats out of the water for maintenance or repair, but I don't particularly care about that. The articulation and control of light with multiple flashes and small light modifiers was critical to the project. What mattered to me was the presence, the atmosphere that could be given to this object, the intensity and suggestiveness of the textures, colors, shapes, and "correspondences," as Baudelaire called them.
