Abe Cardenas rests his head in his hands as he waits for his formula to drip into his system. He can no longer eat via his mouth because of his tracheotomy - a procedure needed to survive his stage four throat cancer. He lives in the family room, where he is better able to move around and take care of himself. Throat cancer is a possible side effect of exposure to Agent Orange.
