To me, this photograph represents home away from home. For two years, I lived in the Taita Hills, in rural Kenya, where I was doing field research on sustainable agriculture. I took this photograph at the homestead of Ms Masagho, who is shown here making chapatis over a fire. My field assistant and I were invited to stay and eat the chapatis with Ms Masagho and her family. Technical details: f/5.6, 1/30 sec, ISO 400, Nikon AI-S 28 mm f/2.8 lens, Nikon D800 camera, Manfrotto tripod, and Nodal Ninja panoramic tripod head.
