A sub-Saharan migrants sit on top of a metallic fence that divides Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla. For more than seven hours, some 27 sub-Saharan African migrants sat atop the 20-foot fence dividing Europe from Africa at Morocco’s border with the Spanish enclave of Melilla refusing to come down. Buffeted by the chilly winds whipping along the epic cliffs of Africa’s Mediterranean coast, the men nursed their bloody feet and pleaded in broken French for the Red Cross.
