In this long exposure image I was studying the movement of tourists in front of a California seascape across multiple moments. Although there is much movement in the photograph, my eye is captivated by the single man who remained still through the entire exposure. He seems to be in unity with the calm, ethereal atmosphere I’ve created by abstracting the movement of the water and sky, smoothing it with the long exposure. Juxtaposed against the still man and the calm sea are the bustling, ghostly tourists who seem unaware of a peaceful moment missed.
