Since 1200, on the Friday night before Easter, the Procession of the Dead Christ takes place in Orte. It‘s a very silent procession crossing the streets of the town, completely darkened, and lit only by torches held in hand by hooded men, belonging to the Brotherhoods, and veiled women in black. This is the oldest ritual in Italy. Due to its solemnity and intimacy, the Procession pushes everyone to discover the truly meaning of faith and the mistery of Jesus death.
