Ink and wash painting also known as traditional watercolor or in Chinese term, Shui-mo. It uses black ink in various concentrations to paint a black and white image with the most popular subject, landscape. For centuries, this most prestigious form of Chinese art was practiced by highly educated scholar gentlemen or literati. I remember to spend hours of time everyday learning this form of art when I was a child. This series of images use black and white photography to imitate ink and wash paintings of Zhangjiajie, the 1st National Forest Park of China. You may find it familiar as this is also planet Pandora in “Avatar”.
