This picture is part of "Masts I", a series of 5 images consisting of abstract mirror compositions of ships' masts. Today technology allows us to see places before we physically reach them, leaving very little part of the land completely unknown to mankind. How is this new spatial awareness affecting our perception of limitations, boundaries, constraints? My practice revolves around this question: I shoot objects commonly identified with the ideas of exploration, discovery and freedom. They are then digitally manipulated to create abstract compositions depriving them of their daily function and ordinary meaning.
