This series is on the Salton Sea in Southern California. I have been photographing this unique inland sea for 18 months and have created this series to draw attention to the plight of the Salton Sea. The sea became a popular watersports resort in the 1950s and 1960s, but after two hurricanes and years of neglect it has substantially deteriorated. Although still used by hundreds of thousands of migrating birds, the salinity and toxicity of the sea has increased to dangerous levels, so that only one type of fish can still exist in its waters.
