Kolkata, formerly Calcutta, once a capital of British India, is a hard place to live. It is overpopulated, polluted and full of contradictions. But the people are joyful, often proud and above all, full of life. Being a native of the city, I know these feelings well. These photos try to capture the crowd, the chaos and the bustling life of the streets of Kolkata.
Engineer, entrepreneur, right brain person in a left brain world. I took formal lessons in painting for many years. But gave it up–too messy around small kids. Started photography again, more seriously, consciously. Out of India. Adopted America.
