Architectural photography might be considered by some an aseptic documentary process. However, architectural photography becomes art when the photographer engages and shares his particular interpretation of those buildings. Over many years, I have been privileged to photograph Frank Gehry's remarkable structure in Bilbao. I tend to concentrate on the Guggenheim's "genius loci", the very essence and nature of this building. I enjoy capturing its three-dimensional interplay and concentrating on the breadth and scale of this extraordinary structure. This outstanding building is best understood in its environment, by examining and engaging with its abstraction, its angles, its lines, its materials and its beautiful minimalism. I experiment and pursue that glint of light that brings life and energetically transforms its materials into contrasting elements. Personally, this approach provides a more challenging and visually appealing experience which I hope you enjoy.
