Kobane / SYRIA 2014 -2015 In October 2014, soldiers of the YPG Kurdish army (The unity for the defense of the population) organized an unseen resistance in the Turkish-Syrian border. The ISIS sieged Kobane. In the town, thousands of people tried to survive. In order to escape the combats, even children and the older didn’t hesitate to cross over the mine fields that separate Kobane from the turkish border. According to the official numbers 200,000 inhabitants found refuge in the camps in Turkey. During many days the world watched as the bombs were falling in the city. 133 days later, a group of YPG soldiers made it possible to win a victory against the Islamic State. In 26th of January Kobane was finally liberated. A few days later refugees left the camps and took the road back home. There is nothing left in the city. All of the first necessities were missing; there is no water and electricity. A piece of bread and tears are shared. Inhabitants try to survive as they can in their destroyed houses. Streets are filled with unexploded bombs. But in the schools filled with bullet holes pupils take lessons. Kobane needs schools, hospitals and houses for starting the life again. Today, half of the population came back, hope also.
