I went to Cuba to explore the beauty of the people and the place. I also wanted to seek insight into the heartbreaking situation between our countries. I chose to shoot both portraits and landscapes. I made portraits that illustrated the strength and spirit of the people despite their economic situation. I contrasted that with the frenetic and often tragic urban landscape.
