Entering monkhood is a rite of passage for many Myanmar boys where they embark on the path to enlightenment with their peers for a period of few weeks to several months. A brotherhood of close connections are forged through growing up together in the monastery while receiving the teachings of the Buddha.

About Photographer

Seeing Japan through the view finder of his camera in 2008 had left an enchanting impression that has captivated Joey Yu ever since. A Singapore based photographer with a passion in travel photography, Joey Yu has travelled to various parts of the world to document the way of life, personalities and environment that are attached to this discipline. Joey’s images are punctuated by energized landscapes and moments of bliss characterised by his beliefs of transforming something mundane into something quite special. His passion and photographic style have also driven him to win several awards as well as publications both at the national and international level. Above all, photography has provided him with much joy and more importantly a deeper perspective into life.
