This body of work consists of photographs of photographs, cut up in the shape of a waveform of the artist’s voice speaking a phrase for the 108th time. The photographs are treated like objects, posed like a still life, creating a sort of maquette, simulating a landscape. Partly inspired by the myth of sisyphus, it’s a meditation on repetition, its constant push and pull. Imitation, derivation, adaptation. Of mastery, of fatigue, of cliches. The waxing and waning and waxing and waning. Rinse. Repeat. Of rhythm, of music, of patterns, anomalies in patterns. The noise and the quiet of “Rinse. Repeat.”
