This is a set of portraits taken in East Africa. Although people photographed here are like tens to be found in Africa, I know their names and they are proudly individual because they allow me to enter to their intimate life and to be photographed. As everybody they do not live in a vacuum, therefore, their identity is shaped by many factors, such as gender, race, the environment, sense of belonging so they become who they are. Each face tells a real story. When I look at these people I see the spirit in them also how visual and sounds of the environment that they absorb using their body as a resonating chamber. Textures, colours, sounds of nature and strong connection with the environment play the crucial role in their lives. I am fascinated how deep they know each other living in strongly bounded communities. I was also looking at their knowledge of the land in extremes so the mask slipped from their faces.
