Once I decided I wanted to manipulate water as a frozen medium, I began doing research about the depth at which to place my subject (including capturing the movement of the water itself) and the rate at which to freeze that movement. Once I reached the desired rate of freeze, I began the thawing process so as to get the clarity/diffusion balance I was looking for. Lastly, I developed a strategy for lighting each subject (including the use of modifiers and gels) in order to emphasize the subject within the frame and to give depth to the overall image.
