Bernadette Hall stands in front of the dairy that she built with her husband, David who was murdered on the farm by robbers while they were milking cows in the early morning. She had to sell the dairy after David was murdered “Commenting on the murder of her husband and sale of the dairy Hall said” It was my childhood dream to farm. At the end of the day we used to sit on the veranda and look out over the farm, my husband would say, “where else could we get all this?” Malandela Majola, Rockfontein Farm, KwaZulu-Natal. In July 2012 an 18 year old farmer Mduduzi Majola, was murdered on the farm where he worked by jelous co workers. His father Malandela Majola works on a diary farm. A grief-stricken Malandela Majola said, ‘“They’ve hit me where it hurts the most. My son was a hard worker and showed signs for a brighter future. He loved working on the land; farming was in his blood.’
