"Old Lady" is an inhabitant who lives in a stilt house village across the Hau River, called also Bassac that is a tributary of the Mekong River, of the city of Chau Doc. That is located in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, on the border of Cambodia. This image is part of the "Chau Doc Stilts" Project of these distinct Vietnamese Architectures, built on wood or sometimes in cement poles up to 20 feet tall, firmly anchored to the ground to resist to the strong currents, specially during the monsoon tropical storms. This is an example of how millions of people in this country live dependent on the rivers' water, especially in the Delta, that is an area very vulnerable to climate change and the plan to build more then 70 dams on the Mekong basin will effect seriously their life for the lack of water.
