Parental love is infinite. But good parenting is all about raising an independent and confident child, who functions well without you. My son Milo has taught me more than I ever could have imagined. Ever since he started walking, Milo exhibited this sense of independence, walking so confidently away from me into the “unknown”. My photographs are a reflection of my own inner struggle: of letting my child grow up carefree in this ever-changing world without a burden of an overprotective parent. The sand represents the shift of time, and suggests a degree of instability and a lack of security. The birds, on another hand, symbolize the freedom to soar. The ocean in front of him, a sea of possibilities.
