The ancient custom over the years to mark cattle, as distinctive or identification of belonging, was a fundamental need of primitive man since he began domesticating animals, first to distinguish them from those of their neighbours if they mingle, and secondly prevent theft of livestock; brands that subsequently led to the formula used to officially legalize the ownership of cattle. This documentary photographic series shows the traditional customs and labeling of the bull in Spain. Between six and eight months after the birth of the calf, the animal is branded for identification. They are marked with three hot irons, one of these irons is the identification number, the other is the property of the animal and a third is the year of birth. This process usually takes a full day depending on the number of calves that have to be marked. The photographs are made in analog film in 35 mm.
