Using traditional photographic technique, I take one shot at a time. Pushed by the filmmaker in me who has worked with motion for many years, I move with what I see. For a fraction of a second, of a breath, I hold the exposure to capture light, contour, movement provoked by a breeze or the wind, a dance of light or of unfolding color. The image, then shaped by my emotional response to it, attempts to capture a glimpse – the lure of the visual world, visceral as it offers reprieve and nurtures us. The images become painterly. They beacon a pause to witness spirit trickling through. Surreal glimpses inspire me to express the beauty of a world to treasure and protect for our children and our children’s children.
