It had been a hot, stormy day in Melbourne which had given way to a very windy and completely cloudy evening. I happened to look out of my window and see a small break appearing in the cloud so headed out with my gear as some of the best light is usually at the end of such days. The hunch about the light paid off by the time I reached the location and I wanted to try and capture a scene that showed the huge expanse of emptiness both in the sky and on the land here in Australia, but the wind was making it almost impossible to get the camera stable on the tripod. Luckily just after another strong gust of wind I managed to fire off a couple of shots, one of which provided an image that was exactly what I was seeking.
