Gottfried Böhm is one of most remarkable architects of the post war era in Germany, I could call him Escher of architecture. The way he applies the raw material of red bricks and naked concrete is characteristic of his style. By entering one of his designed houses, mostly churches, you feel like as if you travelled to another dimension. St. Gertrud is a katholic parish church located in the northern part of Cologne center. It was designed by Gottfried Böhm and constructed in the years between 1962 to 1965. The architect won the german "Architekturpreis". Today St. Gertrud is part of St. Agnes parish
