Hooded penitents parade through the streets of Aragon, during the Semana Santa (Holy Week) Celebrations. Spain is a devoutly Catholic country and possibly no more so than in the small towns of Aragon. This centuries-old tradition of parading through the streets takes place across Spain and local residents have a real passion and pride for this special week. Although the costumes appear very similar to those of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) it is likely that they have a different origin. Nevertheless, these hooded figures certainly have an air of intimidation to them as they parade silently through the towns.
