White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) - I started to watch a stork family in my hometown from the end of May until July in Saxony, Germany and I was able to observe the stork family to grow, by having 2 young storks. There was not often much space for all the storks in the nest, and I observed the male and female stork often sitting on a street lamp, close by to the nest of their young storks. In this Image the female and male stork are both at the street lamp, with less space left, but love for each other. The plumage is mainly white with black flight feathers and wing coverts; the black is caused by the pigment melanin. Adults have long red legs and long pointed red beaks. Male and female storks differ only in size and weight. The male is larger and heavier.
