I live on a farm in East Iceland, where the landscape and the weather are infinitely changing. I document how people, nature and the animal world are intertwined. Framing and re-framing stories has been a pastime throughout my life. I search for familiar places in which to stage these frames. The inclusion of myself into these places represents a connectedness to a place. Connectedness is also thematic. I was born in Poland, raised in the U.S, and at the moment I am living on a farm in East Iceland. Immigration has a way of arousing a search for belonging and an image or story can attach one to a place. Stories and myths are not documents of exact historical events. To seek that from them would be missing the point altogether. Deep within their fiction are hidden truths. That is why they stay with us and that is why we don’t forget them.
