In Iran, two days each year are declared as a national holiday for mourning of the third imam of Muslims and ceremonies are held in each part of the country each of which in their own tradition. Current series of photos are from small village called Bijar which people cover their bodies and faces with mud and wondering around the city while mourning. Legend has it that long time ago, tears shed for the loved ones were so much that it made the clays on the ground all mud which was eventually used to cover the bodies and faces in mud.
