For nine years I’ve been photographing my husband, my muse. Our relationship started in 10th grade of high school. Taking photographs of him over the years has helped me grow into the photographer I am now. The background of the photograph, for me, is just as important as the subject I’m focusing on. I connect the two with shapes, color, lines, and various lighting techniques. I focus on using natural light and shadows to give focus to my favorite subject matter, my husband. My photographs of him are from various life events, including the day of our wedding. I love using higher shutter speeds with smaller apertures to create intense silky blacks to help contrast my husband to the environment. Creating this contrast with his pale body helps various colors "pop", and for him to remain the focus regardless of the environment I'm photographing him in.
