Rancheria Orrockoc - Manaure - La Guajira, Colombia, 2016. A child sits in front of a well built by his community to get water. The water people get from it is contaminated and salty. The daming of the Rancheria River, by drying the aquaphere, has affected communities living far away from its flow. La Guajira, which is a desertic peninsula located North of Colombia, has suffered severe drought for the past 5 years. The building of the Cercado dam in 2011 has worsened the situation, leaving the largest indigenous community of the country, the Wayuu, with no means of survival. Despite the original promises of the project, the Wayuu didn´t get any drop of water from the dam, nor governmental attention. While major agricultural companies and the Cerrejon coal mine access the Rancheria clean water for their own need, the one that reaches the Wayuu is barely a poisoned trickle.
