For Phuong My Spring/Summer 2017
Born 1988 in the suburbs of Beijing to a sporting family, Jingna moved to Singapore at the age of 8, where she grew up exploring anime, fantasy art, go, and piano. After playing in a rock cover band in her early teens, Jingna became interested in visual imageries and left her middle school education to study fashion design. During this time, she represented Singapore in air rifle and competed at an international level, winning medals at the Commonwealth Games and Southeast Asian Games between 2002-2008. Jingna discovered photography sometime along the course of this journey. After experimenting with the medium as a hobby, she eventually dropped out a second time to pursue her passion for image-making full-time. By 20, she had worked with Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Mercedes Benz and Ogilvy & Mather Taiwan, and published her first photobook, “Something Beautiful". In 2012, Jingna moved to New York, and has based herself there since.
