The title is taken from the novel, “Devil in the White City,” which tells a secret and alternative history of Chicago. There is an extreme racial divide that exists in this metropolis, represented most starkly by the economic gulf between the affluent residents on the Northern half and those isolated throughout the Southside. This is likewise reflected in Chicago's murder rates, which currently dwarf those of other major US cities, and a statistic that has begun to skyrocket in recent years (earning it the unpopular nickname "Chi-raq"). Utilizing high-contrast and lithographic printing techniques, this is an attempt to reconcile these two halves, beginning by tracking the history and latter days of the notoriously segregated "White City" Amusement Park.
