12/2016 100VIEWS - Book publication HVB-TOWER MUNICH BY HGESCH Since 1980, the HVB Tower by Walther and Bea Betz has been one of Munich's landmarks; since 2006 it has been declared a Historic Monument; 2013-16 it was restored and rebuilt by Henn Architekten. HG Esch, an architectural photographer for the largest offices worldwide, has accompanied this conversion with many cameras. One of these cameras has been installed permanently and has photographed the same picture section at regular intervals, 35000 times - from which 100 views were selected. The fulminant sequence of these images records the effects of light and work on the building in a time loop; The changing light situations reflect like fireworks on a baroque façade. The photographic reproductions of the building works alternate between sunlight and fog, between twilight and nocturnal artificial light. The 100 images are published as a theme with variations in the form of a fan. Two spatial axes thus make the image sequence playfully perceptible. The series of these construction documentations is being continued.
