The poles are soldiers in a row fighting climate change. They are gauges of the rising sea levels on the Opal coast in France. The long exposures represent the rising and falling of the sea through time and they accentuate the staccato rhythm of the poles. "When I'm creating a composition for an image I'm inspired by contemporary classical music. I search for harmony, melody and rhythm in the landscape."
Johannes Bosgra (NL, 1979) has travelled to the most desolate places on earth from a young age, from Antarctica to Alaska. He developed a passion for photography on these journeys. Besides photographer Johannes is a pianist. He uses philosophy and contemporary classical music as an inspiration in the creation of his photography and video work and explores the links between classical music and visual art. "When I'm creating a composition for an image I'm inspired by contemporary classical music. I want to translate the music in my head into rhythm, tones and harmony in my images.”
