In contemporary society, where people can travel to the other side of the globe in a flash, I constantly question what “home” really means as a space. Focusing on my experience at home, such as what I do, who I am with, and how I feel in the space, the image of a geographical location or the architectural elements of the structure suddenly disintegrates into a more personal image involving one’s memories and emotions. Although “home” certainly needs a defined boundary, the remembrances that are piled within that frame are what distinguish one home from another. Through the project, I created an image of a home for abandoned dogs by using photography and an installation. A sturdy, transparent acrylic box became an imaginary home where shelter dogs could build up moments with their forever family members, as a picture inside the box depicts.
