As I'm very interested in Taiwan's unique culture, I often try to integrate some of its elements into my creations. One day I noticed that the traditional red tortoise cakes come in many different shapes and forms. This inspired me to use them as parts of paintings, allowing me to show the associations the triggered in my mind. Maybe others can follow my example and look for other interesting aspects of our local culture. I'd like to add that while photography is often used as a means of documenting other art forms, this series of images is special in that the works shown could clearly not be preserved for a long time. So after taking the pictures, I had to destroy the paintings by cutting off the red tortoise cakes and eating them. In other words, the paintings were made solely for the purpose of photographing them.
