Those pictures were taken in Jiadong, South-West Taiwan. This region is well-known for its developed aquaculture. Fish farmers have to pump a lot of sea water in order to re-create a good environment for fishes, that is why we can see so many pipes and electric poles for the pump motors all along the seashore. But, this business is actually destroying the environment : the development of aquaculture causes local land subsidence and salt water intrusion into freshwater aquifers.
