These "refugee" dogs fled from the terrible abuse of their owners and literally found refuge in a shelter in Johannesburg. To make matters worse, the shelter itself was threatened with closure if certain upgrades to the facilities were not implemented. The community pulled together with donations of money, food and equipment. Dozens of peopled spent a weekend repairing and cleaning the shelter. Thankfully, the "refugee" dogs were saved once again from bleak circumstances.
I started photography as a hobby about 45 years ago in high school and have enjoyed this activity, striving always to learn new techniques. I love photographing architecture and also portraits.
