In October Kilauea's lava flow finally made it to the sea for the first time in three years. We woke up at 3 A.M. to begin our journey. Getting my gear together a Sony A7II and a Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS lens I made sure everything was perfect. Nervous because it was my first time doing aerials and stepping into a helicopter. We took off out of Hilo and headed for the flow. It was an amazing experience to see new land form in front of your eyes. The smell of sulfur filled your lungs and an instant flash of heat struck your face. The pilot was amazing keeping control of the helicopter making multiple passes of the site. As we landed in Hilo I headed home and immediately wanted to start post processing. I am humbled to share the wonder of creation.
