The ongoing project Ghost Towns is about former Soviet military bases in Hungary, left behind more than 20 years ago. The Soviet troops, leaving Hungary in 1991 were not in a position to take away their own „cities”, including the expropriated buildings belonging to the Hungarian national heritage. What was left behind, has been stolen. The empty and despoiled ruins are slowly claimed and taken back by the nature. It’s occurring with such a violence as the nature has been raped by the builders and residents of the Ghost Towns. And once what has been dreadful, it’s becoming banal.
