The plight of cranes. Warmia (the North-Eastern Region of Poland) is a special place for cranes. This is an exceptional region where they have many favourite places adequate for living, feeding and breeding. In Autumn before they migrate they gather in large groups to arrange the details of their travel, establish a hierarchy, and acquaint their already adult younglings with the family and other members of the group. Each year I observe them; this time on the wetlands in Kwiecewo, near Olsztyn. I start in the evening when they return to sleep, and continue on till the morning when they wake up - stretch their bones and prepare to fly to the feeding ground. When they sleep, under the cover of the dense fog, I find an adequate place to be with them. I listen, observe, and sometimes manage to capture such a beautiful moment on picture.
