The photo series is inspired by the city of Maurillia, described by Italo Calvino's book, The Invisible Cities. Maurillia is a charmless city whose the inhabitants feel nostalgic of its past beauty, that can only be revealed through old post cards. The photos of the serie were taken in large houses that have been abandoned and have lost their magnificence. Only their frescos better withstood time: they depict characters who are the only witnesses through the time. In Maurillia and these abandoned houses, the magnificence has disappeared and just the old post cards and frescos' characters are mute witnesses.
