Each year thousands of dog owners bring their pure-breds to the Westminster Dog Show with the dream of winning Best in Show in the spotlight of Madison Square Garden. But of the 3,200 dogs that compete each year, the vast majority walk the show ring at Piers 92 & 94 along the frozen Hudson and never make it to Madison Square Garden. The 193 dogs lucky to be named Best in Breed do make the bright TV lights of the Garden competing for Best in Group. And the 7 winners of the Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Working, and Herding Groups will be led around the Garden show ring with the chance to win it all in front of thousands of live fans and millions of TV viewers. But alas, only one can be named Best in Show. The Rest in Show is a behind-the-scenes look at those who didn't raise the trophy, from those content to just make it to this greatest of dog shows, to those who came tantalizingly close to being the very best.
